K.A.C. was born in the small town of Hallstahammar in Sweden, he started singing and banging away on the pots and pans in the kitchen at an early age, teaching himself by listening to his grandfather, mother, sister, brothers, aunts, uncle and his numerous cousins that played guitar, banjo, violin and sang when there was ever an opportunity to do so.              

  Although not having any formal music education he also played classical percussion in  the school orchestra. In his early teens the guitar and playing rock and blues became his  prime interest, performing in the local area. A couple of years later he discovered fusion and jazz that made him practice hard and it took him to the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm still without knowing how to read or write music. 


  In Stockholm he got involved in many bands, playing jazz, funk, latin-music in small places in the city. 

  With his band Nuthouse, in which he played guitar and sang as well as wrote the music and lyrics, he did numerous gigs at the main Swedish jazzclub Fasching and at the hotspot Lydmar Hotel, where many of the worlds biggest jazz and pop names played and stayed. Three studio albums were made, ”Now is now”, ”One hand”, ”Anders Johansson & Nuthouse and Live at Fasching”. And with Peter Nordahl, pianist , composer and conductor he performed with many high end musicians.

  He also performed, vocals and guitar, with the renown pianist Esbjörn Svenssons Trio Evfa Attling, at that time a big pop star in Sweden, nowadays mostly known as designer, DJ MendesPeter Jöback (Björn in  ”Kristina från Duvemåla” by ABBAs Benny Anderssons and Björn Ulvaeus), Myrra Malmberg(Christine in ”The phantom of the Opera”, London), Carol Rogers(Sergio Mendez),   for may years guitar and vocals in the legendary Swedish band Good Morning Blues with members such as trumpet player Bosse Broberg and singer Claes Jansson.

  Together with DJ Patric Andersson he launched the band                Stockholm Jazz Beat Project, writing music, lyrics and producing. Jazz in a dance music context, drum machines and live musicians, with live guests soloists from the Swedish jazz elite such as Jonas Kullhammar, Per ”Ruskträsk” Johansson, Lisa Östergren(Real Group), Alexandra Engström Johansson and many more. Two albums were released by Ausfahrt, Germany, ”SJBP” and ”No story goes untold”, all original music, lyrics and produced by Karl Anders Claes. 

  Vocals, guitar, arranger and producer for the band Martini Lizards, a cover band playing contemporary music in a jazz context. The album ”In to the lounge” was released in Europe, USA, Japan and  S. Korea and with tracks from that album he appears on several compilations with such great names as Quincy Jones, Michael Bublé, Ella Fitzgerald, Michael Franks, Sergio Mendes, Astrud Gilberto, Al Jarreau, Randy Crawford, Macy Gray.

  For Rambling Rec. Japan he produced the albums Jazz Train” and ”Jazz Love” on which he plays most of the instruments. 

  As head of live music at renown Berns salonger in Stockholm he has two albums: Live at Berns I & II with original music. Now released as Claes & Alex ”Berns sessions”.

He appears as vocal soloist on ”So that was all”, ”We say goodbye” by Hans Loelv recorded at Benny Anderssons RMV. 

  Other current projects include guitar duo Arnesen Johansson, with his longtime musical friend Thomas Arnesen. 

The funk-blues trio J.A.B. is an other project where K.A.C. play guitar and sing together with bandmates Niklas Almgren drums and Tom Beimel bass, rough and groovy. Digging in to the dirt.  Album coming up.
